[...] by deein Cut out and keep, Pedagogy & practice, childminding This morning like many of you I received a big envelope in the post from Safe food, the food safety promotion board here in Ireland.
Deirdre, just writing this after putting all the stuff into the dishwasher at midnight after writer meeting and decided to check out your blog. It brought back so many memories of my time with my two small children; they are both strapping fellows now in their twenties and I am looking at the photogrpah of the two of the them with the young women in their lives. Those early days with them are so precious and you seem to making the time rich and memorable for you and your children. Keep up the writing.

Thanks Janet, I think that all the outdoor time we do here is for me too, I find it easier to think, breathe and just be with the children outdoors. They also seem to have fewer disagreements and the atmosphere is generally much less stressful outdoors. When they sleep outdoors they sleep in the dappled shade of the apple tree and seem to get a much richer, deeper and more soothing sleep when they do.

Just reading this and gazing at your photos is lulling me into a meditative state!

It's so important for children of all ages to have a peaceful oasis like you provide (or even a much smaller one), and time just to "be". This is the kind of atmosphere in which toddlers can stretch their creative and imaginative powers, along with their cognitive skills. They can also reflect on and assimilate any more stressful, or highly stimulating recent experiences they might have had. What lucky children to have such bliss! Thanks for sharing this!

Didn't know about this because I tend not to visit the kiddie bra section! Kids are only kids for a short time - what's the rush? I can appreciate a little padding might help the confidence of a late developing teen but if they are intended at small kids, that can't be right.

I suppose it would also be possible for children to buy them themselves though, its not as though they would need id! Children are already becoming aware of their bodies so early with what they see on tv, they could buy them and put them on when they are out of sight of their parents, they could potentially help to make a child appear far beyond her years.
